mixed martial arts trainingI have EVOLVED from traditional martial arts starting with 6 years of Shotokan Karate earning my black belt with JKA Karate in New York in the late 80′s. Moving to New Jersey, the east coast hot bed for MMA, I transitioned to full contact Olympic Tae Kwon Do

(TKD) earning my black belt and competing and winning regional and national tournaments. In the off season I started training in BJJ with some of today’s top MMA stars and competing in NAGA (North American Grappling Association) tournaments. After winning major titles in TKD, I decided it was time to switch sports and went to train full time in BJJ at PKA under the Muchado brothers and earned my blue belt. I competed in several more NAGA tournaments before injuring my back. During that time, I took time off to heal, I started training in MMA with top amateur and pro fighters at Pitts Penn (now Jersey Shore MMA). Battling my back injury, I did what I could to help their fighters compete in grappling tournaments and MMA fights.

I moved to High Point N.C. in November 2007 and researched MMA schools in the area and found Cage One Martial Arts was the only true MMA school. COMA was not using the more popular TKD, Karate, Kickboxing or BJJ to pay the bills. I started training there and soon became an instructor and helped Matt Poling, one of the area’s best wrestlers, win his first 3 MMA fight’s and become the Mid Atlantic Welterweight champion and helped John Haff a very talented striker become a well rounded MMA fighter. During that time I underwent my long awaited back surgery and COMA closed.

Through devoted athletes, training partners and some contacts I made along the way as well as not finding a true MMA school I decided to open Evolution Fight Academy. Bringing my experience as well as some of the talented people I have met to the school, to train students to become athletes and athletes to become fighters.
